Nathan Loda's Histories, Heroes and Small Moments runs April 28 to June 5, 2016 at Adah Rose Gallery (3766 Howard Ave., Kensington, Md). Vernissage from 12 to 3 p.m., Sunday May 1. There will be live music by Bud Wilkinson.
His oil paintings reference old photos, artifacts, correspondence and folklore. The work looks at American identity via family stories. The pieces look at the small parts of life and calls on the viewer to place these small moments in a larger context.
