Recent reviews of American films seem to suggest that the Romantic Comedy is making a comeback. Sure, there have always been romantic comedies but they also, for the past 20 years or so, have always SUCKED.
I bet, however, that most of you didn’t know that the romantic comedy is alive and well in Chile. I am taking people’s workd for it but I hear Que Pena Tu Vida is funny and a sequel is in the works(hence this post). Singer/songwriter Yael Meyer has tracks on the soundtrack to Que Pena Tu Vida and the sequel Que Pena Tu Boda. I will leave the translations to my Spanish speaking friends.
A video for a track from the film and the title track from Meyer’s upcoming record, Everything Will Be Alright, is below. Meyer is a native of Santiago but went to school at Berklee (the one with all the musicians, not the one with all the hippies…although..come to think of it…)
Another video for the track, Fire, is coming as is a West Coast of the USA tour.
