![]() Swans will once again be on tour to support the 2 CD release, The Seer (one of the best records last year). This is the second studio release of the re-formed Swans. This is not the usual “I need to pay the rent” reunion. When I heard about it I was skeptical the new material would be interesting. After so many years how do you stay “vital”? Swans manage. It isn’t going too overboard to say The Seer is among the best the group—in various incarnations—has ever produced. Reports on the shows (which I always seem to miss) have been awed. These reports came to me from people not easily awed. If you don’t have The Seer, buy it. If you do you are already looking at the dates below to grab tickets. Tour

The song is off the Tired Hearts EP which comes out June 4, 2013. You can order the EP at The Dig's Bandcamp page. The EP has been produced by Bryce Goggin who has also worked with Swans, Pavement and Antony & The Johnsons. The band is just about to head out on tour as well—you can check out dates below. This is a really great band to see live. If you like any sort of rock? You will certainly like them. That isn't a terribly creative way of putting it I suppose but I have seen them. They were the opening act and after a few songs I thought; Wow, it takes some balls to have a band this good OPENING for you. Tour

But they bear another mention—or two or three. They have a new video (below) of the track, Strawberry. The animated video has tons of references to 80s cult (and not so cult) films. The song is off the band’s debut, Diamond Junk which is out now. The record was produced by Danny Seim (Menomena). They are on tour now. Unsurprisingly the tour dates are below as well. If you want to get an idea of the band live? Scroll to the bottom to check out a live version of the song, Time Snakes. You can hear it and download it free below. Their sound seems to be pop mixing with a tiny dash of shoegaziness and a bit of nostalgia (60s girl group sound with reverb). And that is all good. The band’s latest full length, Habit Shackles, comes out July 16, 2013. You New Yorkers can check them out at Union Hall on June 22. More shows to be announced soon. For more on the band head to www.desertstarsband.com. ![]() Rodeo Ruby Love’s fourth LP, The Pits, comes out June 11, 2013. The band, out of Bloomington, Indiana, and play pop rock tinged with a wee bit of country. You can check out a video for their track, It Was Weird, below. They are also heading out on tour and you can check out the dates below. The bulk of dates are with Streetlight Manifesto and Empty Orchestra (some solo dates are mixed in). The band has been around for seven years creating and disseminating their Midwestern pop rock. Tour

Their latest LP, Waterdrawn, is their second LP in a ten year span. Waterdrawn comes out August 20, 2013. The reason for the dearth of material is that everyone in the band is in other bands—Janet Bean is half of Freakwater and Eleventh Dream Day (who I believe have a fairly new LP out). James Elkington has played with Skull Orchard and Brokeback. He also toured with Laetitia Sadier. So, basically, get off their case. They’ve been busy. Check out the track, Dying Tree, below. If you are in the Chicago area be sure to head to the record release show Thursday, August 22 at The Hideout. ![]() Do you watch television? Then you have heard PART of Kyle Andrews song, You Always Make Me Smile. In a hilarious bit of “oops” I cannot tell you what product uses the song, but I remember the song. SO, Andrews was paid by someone else to make his song famous. Good for him. If you are a fan of cheerful, upbeat, catchy pop? You will be a fan of Andrews. He has a new full length, Brighter Than The Sun, coming July 23, 2013. In the meantime check out the video for a song off the upcoming record, The Way To Wonder, below….and below that is the video for the song you already know! ![]() Emily Wells latest video, for her track, Darlin, is out now. The song is off Mama Acoustic Recordings which comes out on June 11, 2013. Wells is playing some USA dates in the summer and will also tour Europe with Kurt Vile. The song, Becomes the Color, is the haunting closing theme to the Chan Wook Park film, Stoker, which you should see if you like beautiful looking suspense films. She also has another track, If I Ever Had A Heart, on the soundtrack as a bonus track. Tour
