Truthers, out of Brooklyn, have a new single 7 inch coming June 3, 2014. One of the songs, Calm Canaries, is below for your perusal.

The band's name has nothing to do with the president's birth certificate. Rather it comes from the band member's shared enthusiasm for The X-Files.

Nozinja, Out Of South Africa, Releases Video For "Tseeleke," Out As A 12 Inch Via Warp Records In 2014

Nozinja has a video for the track Tsekeleke. Shot in Johannesberg the track will be released on a 12 inch record later in the year. It is the South African artist's first release via Warp Records.

Known in South Africa as the originator of shangaan electro (a dance movement), he creates music that is based on the past but has eyes to the future. There is traditional folk her but also Tsonga disco and house. This is rave music from about as far south as you can get.

SBTRKT Releasing "Transitions," Six New Electronic Compositions

SBTRKT has started releasing Transitions, a collection of six electronic instrumentals written in the past year. The songs will be released on three 12 inch records. Each will have artwork and 2D animation by A Hidden Place. The songs will also be available for digital download. You cahc listen to the songs at transitions.sbtrkt.com.

The website itself is a piece of art designed by A Hidden Place. It compliments the music.

The Kooks Releasing New Single, "Down," April 20, 2014

The Kooks have a new single, Down, out April 20, 2014. The song was written by Luke Pritchard and hip hop artist, Inflo. It is a bit of a departure for the Kooks and you can check it out below.

The single was recorded in L.A. and London and will be released digitally and on 7 inch via Virgin/EMI.

Cute Heels Releasing "SV Forest," April 1, 2014, Hear Title Track Now

Cute Heels, a solo project from producer Victor Lenis, has just released the first single from the LP, SV Forest. You can listen to it below. The LP comes out April 1, 2014.

Lenis, from Bogota, uses synths and drum machines to make his music but his influences come from the punk rock that surrounded him as a kid. The music is electronic but a more gloomy version of the genre.

The record is being released on vinyl and it was mastered specifically for the medium.

BRONCHO Have A New Single, "It's On" Hear It Now

BRONCHO have a new song, It's On, out now on 7 inch vinyl via Austin's CQ Records (you can buy it HERE). The song apparently was on during the closing credits for HBO's Girls (which I don't watch...wrong demographic...nothing against the show). Check out the single below. Shows are coming too--including SXSW March 15 at Parish Underground and Thursday, March 13 at Bungalow. The band come from Okalahoma and will be releasing a new LP later in the year.

I read a wee bit on them and saw some Richard Hell comparisons. Apt if not 100 percent spot on. This is, of course, a different time from the day of the Voidoids.

JPNSGRLS Release "The Sharkweek EP" On Vinyl

JPNSGRLS, out of lovely Vancouver, just released The Sharkweek EP on limited edition vinyl. Really most vinyl coming out is "limited edition" isn't it? No one is pressing 100,000 units anymore!

The EP is an expanded version of their debut and includes the song, Mushrooms, that you can check out HERE.
