John Cale has released the second single from his upcoming record, Shifty Tales From Nookie Wood. The video from the track, Face to the Sky, is below. You can order a digital download of the song from online retailers. A 7 inch comes out September 25, 2012 and will be backed with Living With You(Organic Mix). We've mentioned the new Cale record before but he deserves more than one mention. Luther, from Philadelphia, have toured or opened for the likes of The Smoking Popes, The Bouncing Souls and Braid. With all that playing under their belt they are just about to release their debut full-length on Chunksaah Records. Let’s Get You Somewhere Else hits the street on October 9, 2012. The record was produced by Pete Steinkopf of The Bouncing Souls. The full length follows an EP, Siblings & Sevens, that came out in 2011. The band is also touring and you can check out the dates below. Tour

You can check out a track, C.C. Rider, below. The collection has tracks from 19 different recordings recorded from 1962-2010 on a variety of labels—including Preservation Hall Recordings. A former gallery on St. Peter Street the hall became a place for the founding fathers of Jazz (mostly born in the late 1800s) to come and jam. Keep in mind we are talking about New Orleans 50 years ago. There are not many 125 year old jazz men left. Out of this, at length, grew the Preservation Hall Jazz Band who have continued releasing records—despite the passing of members. Heart Of Hearts (aka Greg Hatem) is based in Baltimore and has just released the first single from his new record, My Society. The track is Candling and you can check it out below. The full length comes out September 25, 2012. For you music enthusiasts Hatem was drummer for the band Tulsa. We have mentioned the Could Seeding project. Hatem also worked on one of those (check it out HERE). Kevin Bowe has often worked with other performers—but this time out he is going it alone. Well, not ALONE but solo. You KNOW what I meant…Get off my back! Bowe’s Natchez Trace is a mix of folk rock and country and features musicians such as Chris and Curt Kirkwood (Meat Puppets), Nels Cline (Wilco) and Scarlet Rivera who played on some fabulous Bob Dylan efforts. That isn’t even everyone who help out. The guys from the Jay Hawks (Freedy Johnston, Chuck Prophet and Tim O’Reagan) also appear. Bowe’s own band, the Okemah Prophets, also appear. Tons of people. Check out an interview with Bowe HERE. And find out more on Bowe at www.kevinbowe.com. The Bad Plus have a new record, Made Possible, coming out September 25, 2012 on eOne Music. This is the band’s 8th studio record. One way to learn more about the trio is by checking out the short documentary below (it premiered on IFC.com). Normally the group record in their home state of Minnesota but this time they recorded in upstate New York. This is pretty avant-garde stuff—in the true sense of the term. It is out there and I dare you to hang a specific genre on them. Double dare you. O’Brother have a new EP, Basement Window, coming out on Triple Crown Records. The EP is new versions of tracks from the band’s debut, Garden Window. The EP comes out September 18 digitally. The digital release has a bonus track. The limited edition vinyl comes out October 30, 2012. The vinyl is one side audio and the other side etched artwork. Love different release ideas. Good for label and band. The band is also poised to begin a tour with Circa Survive, Touché Amore and Balance & Composure. Dates are below as is a video for their acoustic version of Poison! Tour
