But this is all really about Sadier, not the guests. If The Trip was the starting point then Silencio is a must for your record collection.
Look for a tour in the fall.
Laetitia Sadier’s second solo record, Silencio, comes out July 24th on Drag City. Sadier, of Monade and Stereolab, released her first solo record, The Trip, around two years ago. This record includes collaborations with Tim Gane (formerly of Stereolab), James Elkington and Sam Prekop. But this is all really about Sadier, not the guests. If The Trip was the starting point then Silencio is a must for your record collection. Look for a tour in the fall.

In case you are slow on the uptake (and who reading this site isn’t really…to say nothing of those writing it), the songs were co-written by Brian Holland. Holland is a legendary writer. He penned over 25 number 1 hits for Motown. The record is co-produced by Holland and Dave Wilder (Ghostface Killah, Macy Gray). The music has elements of soul, jazz and pop which is what you’d expect when working with the man who wrote How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You) and Baby I Need Your Loving. Check out (and download) the track, Another You, below. Fawn, out of Detroit, are releasing their debut record, Coastlines, on June 12 (via Quite Scientific Records). Check out the track, Pixels, below. Fawn is a sort of indie rock supergroup featuring members of a slew of bands. The members are also visual artists which is a neat thing when it happens. Yes, the word indie pop is an accurate description of the band but it gets a little more “rock” than you usually hear when that sub-genre is mentioned. And they do give off a very different Detroit vibe. Pixels
Anyone who ventured out on record store day saw a slew of vinyl releases. Prominent among these was School of Seven Bells’ recording of Siouxsie and the Banshees’ Kiss Them For Me. The 7 inch was limited to a 1000 but do not despair. It was just made available at iTunes. The single also includes an original track, When She Was Me. You can check out the cover below via Soundcloud. You can hear the new Reptar album, Body Faucet, streaming in full on Youtube , check it out below. The stream is in partnership with Comedy Central (I am not sure why). The record comes out May 1, 2012 on Vagrant records. You can pre-order it on iTunes HERE. The record was produced by Ben Allen (Gnarls Barkley, Animal Collective, Washed Out. The release follows the band’s debut Oblange Fizz Y’all. If you are not familiar? Think electronic pop you can dance to. |
