Jason Donnelly Chatted With Us On Constantly Consuming Culture The Radio Show Wednesday 7/32/13

Picture
Jason Donnelly (aka DJ Puzzle) was the guest on Mapanare's internet radio show (on the Authors On The Air Global Radio Network).  Donnelly was a little late so if you listen you get to hear me fumbling to fill air for ten minutes. You can listen HERE.

As it turns out he was late because he was laying down some bass lines for a new loop library he is working on. He lost track of time until he was received a call that I was on the air rambling.

It takes that kind of focus to make loops. It is a detailed business.

Among the things we spoke of was a recent session of Brazilian Lounge Music that came out of a session to produce Brazilian music loops. You can hear it HERE.  We also talked about his industrial rock band, Khemique. You can hear that HERE.

Loops are a new "instrument" and Donnelly is a far more interesting interview than came out in this half-assed interview (my fault..distracted by his calling late). He works in a multitude of genres, works creating loops and while doing that also creates music that stands alone. Likewise he sees no genres--metal, Brazilian music, electronic, trap, hip- hop etc. They are all just puzzles to be solved by DJ Puzzle.

Mat Zo is a British producer living in LA. That much is easy to state. He creates music in a variety of dance genres. DJs such as Madeon, Pete Tong, Shrillex, Steve Aoki, Above & Beyond and A-Trak all include his tracks in their sets.

Zo has a new track, Pyramid Scheme, featuring Chuck D. on vocals. The track is, again, a blend of styles but as with all Zo's music it is red meat for the dance floor. You can check it out via Soundcloud below.

You can keep up with the group via their Facebook page. This new LP was mixed and mastered by Martin Bowes of Attrition at his studio in Coventry, UK, The Cage.

Years ago band member, Jon Worthy, send a demo to the label I worked for. I still recall getting it and that was getting near 20 years ago.
