Xander Smith, of shoegaze outfit, Run Run Run, is releasing his solo debut, Hey Dan Pedro, on May 15. On May 16 he will give a free show at Stories bookstore in Echo Park. Those of you in the LA are should check it out. The physical release comes out on Smith’s own label, Song & Dance Records.
This release is, apparently, more a singer-songerwriter sort of effort. It isn’t swirly shoegaze. That is good; why do a solo record that is the same as your band? This was a Kickstarter funded project. The press release also says Smith’s Mentor is Herb Alpert and that the record was produced by Mike Harrison (The Bangles).
