Ryan Adams new record, Ashes & Fire, comes out October 11. Yesterday we wrote a little about the November release by the great Jimmy Cliff. Cliff is 63. Adams is significantly younger and probably doesn’t deserve the label “legendary” but I have an inkling that down the road that term will be applied to him—and justifiably.
For awhile I found Adams hard to keep up with. It seemed like he released an album every week. But he seems to have slowed down a tad? I dunno. Maybe I am just out of it. This record was produced by Glyn Johns who has worked with everyone and their grandmother (Dylan, The Beatles, The Clash…etc etc). John’s son produced two earlier Adams records.
There are also some notable guest musicians--Benmont Tench and Nora Jones (man, I loved that Pirates song by her).
