Punk Rock is not dead. It may be on life support somewhere in Orange County but it is most assuredly not dead. Emily’s Army are testament to that. The young punk rockers want to give the world some sage advice with their new record titled, Don’t Be A Dick.
I encourage everyone to live by the spirit of that title.
The band is made up of teenagers who, apparently, write about teenage things like the pressures of adolescence and politics. Laugh if you will geezers but you listened to music aimed at teens when you were a teen and most of it probably sucked.
I like that they apparently recorded and mixed the record in four days. THAT is punk rock mofos.
The band’s name comes from a cousin of two band member brothers, Emily. Emily has Cystic Fibrosis and they took the name in her honor and also have a fundraising organization with the same moniker. Good for them. THAT is also punk rock of the good, activist kind.
