Michael Kiwanuka is touring North America beginning in June. He will play his second show in a year in NYC and also his first shows in Brooklyn. A new record, Home Again, comes out on Cherrytree Records on July 31. Home Again is Kiwanuka’s debut and is already out in the UK (to rave reviews). He has toured recently with Adele—a good gig if you can get it.
For some reason I cannot get the name Otis Redding out of my head when I hear Kiwanuka. I know it isn’t a dead on comparison but there is something in there that calls the late Mr. Redding to mind (ah ha! I am not alone in this, just read the press release and they compare him to Redding too).
Kiwanuka is from London, the child of immigrants from Uganda. Give him a listen.
