Lúnasa, an acoustic group from Ireland is releasing a new LP, Lúnasa With the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, on April 16, 2013. The recording is a collaboration between the Irish traditional band and the national orchestra of the Republic of Ireland. The band toured recently in the USA and a show recorded for Mountain Stage (airing after May 3 on NPR stations across the USA).
The band has been together for around 17 years and in that time has played 1,500 shows. The music is all celtic but not exclusively Irish--it reaches to other Celtic regions of Europe such as Asturias, Brittany and Galicia.
There will be further USA dates at the end of 2013.
