I am an ambient skeptic. I have heard too many "ambient artists" who use the genre to hide their ineptitude and play two notes over and over for an hour. Either that or Scandinavian Metal enthusiasts who just heard their first Greig recording and fancy themselves his heir.
Rich is none of these things, rather, he is a serious modern composer who makes music that not only makes musical and sonic sense but that is moving and, GASP, listenable and accessible. Do yourself a favor and see him. First show is Sunday, April 25 in Toronto. More dates will be added.
