Joe Jackson Touring To Support His Take On Duke Ellington Classics, Out June 26

Joe Jackson is heading out on tour to support his upcoming record, The Duke. The release hits the street on June 26. You can check out a track, I’m Beginning to See the Light, below. In case you haven’t guessed the record is Jackson’s take on Duke Ellington classics.

Jackson, as you will see, makes the music his own. He doesn’t try to regurgitate big band sounds. That really isn’t what his style is about. A good cover is usually one where the performer makes the track their own. And that is difficult with music with this sort of pedigree.

Guests on the record include Sharon Jones, Iggy Pop, Sussan Deyhim, Lilian Vieira , Zuco 103 and others.
