Ibeyi is twins Naomi and Lisa-Kainde Diaz. They have a musical heritage as daughters of Cuban percussion legent Anga Diaz (he played with groups such as Orisha, Afro-Cuban All Stars and even Ry Cooder).
The music is based on Yoruba music brought to Cuba during slavery times. They sing in both English and Yoruba. There is something quite moving that Yoruba culture still informs Cubans at home and in the diaspora. Find out more at www.ibeyi.fr.
The duo are working on a full-length.
