Elin Ruth, noted Swedish musician and song writer, is releasing her first record in the USA. The eponymous release will come out January 29, 2013. An ep, the Bang EP, will be out November 27, 2012. You can check out the track, Bang, below.
I saw Ruth opening for Ane Brun and playing in her band. She played a great solo set. It is to be hoped she tours extensively to support the new record. Playing solo, acoustic, is sort of like playing naked. If you do it and don’t bore people it means you have good material.
Her music has hints of old school American country and gospel and also a bit of that 60s folk revival thing too. But it is new. It isn’t another tired tromp down memory lane.
