Arcade Fire announced, at their recent show in Quebec City, that they will match donations made to the newly founded KANPE, up to a million dollars. Win Butler told fans at the show to “Please take our money from us.”
I go on a lot about bands being selfish pricks. When they make donations they make rather token ones. BUT...a million dollars? Please DO check out Kanpe, an organization designed to help the most vunerable in Haiti self-sufficient. Haiti is still there, still needs help and, as the Miami Herald has been reporting, a lot of the aid promised by governments has not been delivered (promises, promises).
Kanpe’s partners in this include Partners in Health, a long standing health organization in Haiti and micro-credit specialists Fonkoze.
