Porches new LP, Slow Dance in the Cosmos, is coming August 27, 2013. You can check out the song, Franklin the Flirt, below. This is the band's eighth record in the past six years which seems pretty prolific. Porches is the brainchild of singer/guitarist/songwriter, Aaron Maine. He calls his music, "sad rock." But we all need songs to listen to when we get dumped so Maine provides a valuable service. Editors have a new LP, The Weight Of Your Love, coming out July 2, 2013. This is the band's fourth studio recording and is the first featuring two new members (Justin Lockey/Elliott Williams). Founding member, Chris Urbanowicz, left the band last year. Sometimes a member leaving kills a band and sometimes it rejuvenates a band. This LP was recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville with producer Jacquire King. King has produced the likes of Norah Jones, Tom Waits, Of Monsters And Men and Kings of Leon. His work with all of these artists is stellar. Go listen if you do not believe me. You can check out the video for The Weight below. Chicago has a ton of interesting music fests. Wicker Park Fest 2013 is one of them. The festival recently announced their full line-up of bands. The festival which takes place July 27 and 28 and costs only $5. The festival features three stages of live music but also is a reflection of one of Chicago's most vibrant neighborhoods. The festival is presented by the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce. This is one of the more fun street fests in Chicago. Lots of people but it has never seemed over-packed. For more info head HERE. The festival also has a kids area, arts section (with installations and performance) and local vendors. There is an attempt to be "green" (although, come on, no such festival is really..."green" just "greener"). Check below for list of bands and kids events. Bands

The record is a pop record--as created by an avant-garde musician. I could sit here writing trying to describe the song, More (Blues), which you can listen to for yourself below or you could just listen. If you have heard previous work by Arp (such as The Soft Wave) you may recognize this as a little bit of a departure for the artist. But that is what good artists do, they move on and into new areas of exploration. Maps (James Chapman) has a new single, A.M.A, coming out June 25, 2013. The single is off the new LP, Vicissitude, which comes out July 19. The single is available as either 12 inch vinyl or a download. The single includes several remixes. You can download the Sundfør’s remix of the single free below. Pre-order at iTunes.
