Art Miami often seems like a museum and this Stella work is certainly a museum-quality piece. This work is alkyd and magna on etched magnesium. Alkyd is a type of fast drying oil paint/resin and magna is a similar product that is acrylic. Not that rare but also not particularly common.

Marck, once again, showed in Miami via Licht Feld (Basel, Switzerland). We've been posting videos of his work for years--since the days of the new defunct, Art Chicago. You can see some of Marck's work from back then and an interview with gallery owner, Fredy Hadorn HERE. And even more HERE. Below is a video of Marck discussing his work. You may find it hard to follow unless you speak German (it is in German) but find a German-speaking friend and watch it together. 11. 12 Gallery (Moscow/Singapore) showed work by Maxim Bashev & Vladimir Semensky at Context Miami 2015. Bashev hearkens to days gone by but not too far gone by--there are hints of dada and maybe a sardonic nod to a old master but this is all done in a post-post-modern context. What comes after modern art? Post-modern and then there is what comes after that. It would be silly to add a third "post" to this. Semensky's work is obviously less ornate using simpler strokes and minimalist to convene his message and his image. His simple, direct approach is of this world and about the human body. There are no angels or references to myths or old masters. All lovely paintings. Mayoral (Barcelona) showed this untitled piece by Joan Miró at Art Miami 2015. Generally we've started to shy away from artists as famous as Miró but this rule is broken with some frequency. In this case the piece is so aesthetically satisfying an created out of such odd material it merited mention. This is created from housepaint, rope on corrugated cardboard mounted on wood. He had associations with dada and surrealism and was part of the first surrealist exhibition but he never seemed to adhere to any sort of orthodoxy. Kelly Reemtsen showed work by David Klein Gallery at Art Miami 2015. Reemtsen's work depicts glamorous women, dressed in their finest--with power tools of various sorts. This piece, titled, Crush, is high heels and sledgehammers. None of the women pictured have heads but usually their bodies are present. This is a fairly rare one showing only the heels! Find out more about the artist at kellyreemtsen.com. Adah Rose Gallery Showed Work By Acya Koseogullari And Jessica Drenk At Context Miami 201512/7/2015 Adah Rose Gallery (Kensington, Maryland) showed work by Acya Koseogullari and Jessica Drenk. Drenk has been producing work for the Washington D.C.-area gallery for some years. You can see some HERE and HERE. Koseogullari is new to the gallery I believe and I know precious little about the artist. But the upper and middle piece are hers (the middle being detail). The bottom is a new work from Drenk. Liquid Art System/ White Room (Capri/Positano) Showed Work By Peter Demetz At Contact Miami 201512/7/2015 Liquid Art System /White Room (Capri/Positano) showed work by Peter Demetz at Contact Miami 2015. Demetz is an Italian artist whose diorama-like pieces are truly show stopping. When there are larger pieces you often find a crowd. Small pieces like this still stop fair goers in their tracks. There is something about work that plays with dimension. These look 2D from some angles but when you look? You realize they are not. Many artists play with this and quite few do it with this level of skill. Find out more at www.peterdemetz.it. Ayakamay had work shown by Licht Feld (Basel, Switzerland) at Context Miami 2015. Her pieces here range from framed videos, video sculpture to inkjet prints. She is grew up both in Japan and the USA and this multi-culturalism informs her work. Listen to a brief interview below. Coates & Scarry (London) showed work by Jayne Anita Smith at Context Miami 2015. Smith's work are filled with ghostly images and figures from her own life. You will also see historical costumes and personages if you look closely. There are often expressions of anguish on the faces of these personages. This piece is mixed media on aluminum. She often uses washes, drips of ink, gesso and graphite (not sure if these are used here). The artist is from London and currently lives in Penzance. N2 Galeria (Barcelona) showed pieces by Jafet Blanch and Mario Soria at Context Miami 2015. The former artist's piece is oil on canvans (near to photo realism) and the latter is mixed media on wood with small toys embedded. The gentleman from the gallery turned the piece around to show me its interior space and I took an out of focus shot of it (in fact I took more than one out of focus shot of it). I suspect viewers will get the idea. Peluqueria Soria by Marion Soria
