USF Graphicstudio (Tampa) Presents An Evening WIth Egyptian Artist Aya Tarek February 22, 20162/19/2016 University of South Florida's Graphicstudio (3702 Spectrum Blvd., Suite 100, Tampa) presents an evening with guest artist Aya Tarek and Graphicstudio printer, Tim Baker. The evening begins at 6 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2016. The discussion begins at 7 p.m. Tarek is a street artist, painter and muralist visiting from Egypt. She will talk about her process, go and hear where this exciting artist is heading next. The evening is free and will include Middle Easter fare and the musical stylings of DJ Cotton. The Print Center (1614 Latimer St., Philadelphia) is set to offer a new portfolio of prints from Kristen Martincic. The pieces, collectively titled, The Leisure Pool Suite, are of six woodcuts and an H20 Pool Float. These prints have, as subjects, aerial views of backyard swimming pools. These pools are divorced from their natural surroundings. Glancing at the work the viewer might figure out the subject immediately--or think of other meanings to these shapes. The prints seems a great purchase to start the summer (and then you can look at them in the winter and sigh). The series, and individual prints from the series, are available exclusively from The Print Shop. If you opt for the complete set it comes in a box handcrafted by Martincic. You can see more by (and read more about) the artist at kmartincic.com. Her work has been shown all over the USA and also at the American University in Cairo. Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker St, NYC) presents Kaletski Inspirations on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. RSVP required. Alexander Kaletski, a Russian artist who moved to New York during the Cold War is more than just an artist; he is an actor, writer, musician AND fine artist. We did an interview with him a few years back that is always worth a read (we really should chat with him again). Kaletski is represented by Anna Zorina Gallery (533 West 23rd St. New York). Le Poisson Rouge is mainly a music venue but they also do art events. Cernuda Arte (3155 Ponce de León Blvd., Coral Gables) presents Cuban Art In Miami Public Spaces a presentation by Jorge A.Hernández at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014. As art aficionados not living under a rock are aware, Miami has become an art destination, an epicenter of arts in America. This is in no small part due to artwork installed in publc places. Hernández, using powerpint, will show his audience the location of a variety of works; murals, installations, sculpturs and monuments creeated by Cuban artists (including; Agustín Cárdenas, Carlos Alfonzo, Cundo Bermúdez, Antonio Gattorno, Tony López, Rolando López Dirube, Manuel Carbonell, Domingo Ravenet, Juan José Sicre, Enrique Martínez Celaya, Enrique Riverón, José Bedia, Manuel Mendive and more.) Who wouldn't want this hanging in their living room? This piece was shown by Casa Triangulo. Find out more about this at the Casa Triangulo gallery website. Berliner is a Brazilian-born artist who lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. He has been part of numerous group and solo exhibitions in his home country and a few abroad.
