ArtPad SF comes back to the Phoenix Hotel, 601 Eddy Street San Francisco , in San Francisco from May 16 to 19, 2013. Forty rooms of the wonderful hotel will be taken over by galleries and other projects. There will also be panels, screenings, performances and, of course, parties. What is art without a party to chat about art. I am not kidding, a discussion about art is part of the experience.

This is the third year of the event, created by Chip Conley and Maria Jenson.

This year the event will announce the SFMOMMA SECA  (the Society for the Encouragement of Contemporary Art) Art Award.

Exhibitors will include, Unspeakable Projects, Beta Pictoris, Luis De Jesus Los Angeles, Johansson Projects, The Luggage Store, Gregory Lind Gallery, Walter Maciel Gallery, Marx & Zavattero, Steven Wolf Fine Arts, New Image Art and many more.

There will also be a VIP preview from 6 to 8 pm which will benefit SFMOMA SECA Art Award (the cost is $125). The after party (also a benefit for the above) is from 8 to 11 p.m. and will set you back $50.

The second edition of Expo Chicago—Chicago’s major art show at Navy Pier—announced the curator for the In/Situ portion of their show. Shamim M. Momin, director, curator and co-founder of LAND (Los Angeles Nomadic Division), will be choosing the art you see around Navy Pier, outside the booths.

That is what a curator does—chooses the art (a wee bit of a simplification). In/Situ is the art set up throughout Expo Chicago and last year it was impressive. Momin worked at LAND, which is a non-profit public art organization that deals specifically with site-specific art contemporary art. She has also worked as associate curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art. That is just one stop on her resume.

Expo Chicago 2013, which is in September, promises to be more impressive than the first year. The event is in the process of making the time around their show a reason to visit Chicago in September.

Don’t worry art fans. It is not freezing in the Windy City in September. For more information head to www.expochicago.com.

SCOPE Art Show will, once again, be in Miami  for “Art Week”  2012. (I am never sure what to call it). They will have a new location at NE 36th Street and Midtown Blvd. The last couple of years SCOPE has been one of the must see shows during the week (whatever you want to call it).

For more info on SCOPE Miami programs go HERE.

This year the pavilion will be 100,000 square feet and include over 100 galleries (most established but a significant portion newer galleries). Obviously this runs at the same time as Art Basel Miami Beach from December 4 through the 9th.

SCOPE is also teaming up with VH1 with The VH1 Outdoor Lounge. There will be music art and more and the area will be accessible to all visitors to SCOPE for the entire fair. There will also be special events announced later. There will be a SCOPE Miami Official Party on Thursday, December 6, which will be sponsored by VH1 with music and art (of course).

Another Sponsor helping out SCOPE is Red Bull. Red Bull Curates is choosing nine artists from Los Angeles, Chicago and New York to win a trio to Miami for a group exhibition at Scope Miami 2012.

Normally I do not just post a giant flyer on an exhibit or a gallery attending an art show. Normally I try to write a little thing about it. But I was tired tonight and had a lot of other stuff to do.

Plus my computer keeps suddenly jumping back into previous sentences and erasing entire paragraphs of my clever prose.

So while I sort THAT out, read the above from Judy Saslow Gallery in Chicago.
