I get a little squirmy when people choose to use the word “residency” and “curate” about musical endeavors. It all sounds very NPR. It sounds very PRECIOUS. But it really just means the band are playing a five week stand at one venue and get to work on their music in front of an audience. Who wouldn’t want to do that even IF it makes ME irritable?
The “resssidency” begins May 2, 2011. You will be required to take notes and will be tested before you can leave (OK..made that up). But a slew of different musical acts will appear with He’s My Brother She’s My Sister, which means going every Monday is something you could do and not get bored. Not only that, He’s My Brother She’s My Sister will play a different set every performance. Those wo attend shows will get a souvenir art-adorned flash drive card with the music, videos and performances.
The Satellite Club used to be Spaceland by the by. And the band will be releasing a new record and video in conjunction with every show. The new music and videos will be released as a weekly free download on the band website, www.HMBSMS.com. Wait…you can abbreviate the name? DAMMIT.
Oh, did I mentione admission is free for those of you of drinking age? This ressssidency is sounding better all the time.
