Victory (aka Robert Fleming) is a LA-based songwriter and musician whose debut LP, Victory is Music, came out earlier in 2013. Now he releases two Holiday tunes as free downloads. One is a cover of Merry Christmas, Baby by The Beach Boys.
Gringo Star wants to tell you something about your mom. And it isn't pretty. They saw her kissing some fat dude last night. Check out I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus via soundcloud below.
The band's latest LP, Floating Out To See, came out early in 2013. Be sure to check it out too. It is the band's third and was released on their own label My Anxious Mouth Inc.
Erasure has a new video, Gaudete, off their upcoming LP, Snow Globe. The LP comes out November 11 on Mute. The video is a collaboration with Martin Meunier and Tonya Hurley. The former worked on Coraline and James and the Giant Peach. The latter is the author of ghostgirl and The Blessed series. It is a neat animated video.
We've mentioned Snow Globe before--a mix of new seasonal songs and classics. It is a Christmas release to look forward to. Personally I still won't play it until AFTER Thanksgiving!
Erasure have a new LP, Snow Globe, coming out November 11, 2013. As the title suggests the release is about the holidays--with new compositions sitting alongside traditional holiday tunes. The first single will be a take on, Gaudette.
Always nice to hear something new from Erasure.

Christmas Time Is Here
Leyla Akdogan and Sean Hoffman, of Loch & Key, released their first CD, Jupiter’s Guide For Submariners, in September. The two hail from L.A. and don’t suck at all. I say that because…well….L.A.? Music….?
Anyway the two will be playing the 51st Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion between 3 and 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve Pacific Standard Time. The show will be on TV (KCET Channel 28), on radio at LPFK 90.7 and streaming at KCET.org.
The two had a long holiday interview which was interesting. I choose to include one part of it—their recipe for mulled wine.
“When choosing a wine for mulling, pick something full-bodied, as
heavier reds will better withstand heating and spicing. Cabernet
Sauvignon, Syrah or Shiraz, and Zinfandel. Port and other types of
fortified wine may also be used; however, when using these wines the
amount of sugar added should be greatly reduced or even eliminated
Mulled Wine Recipe
1 bottle (750mL) red wine
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup of raw sugar, maple syrup or honey
2 sticks cinnamon
4 whole cloves
1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
Zest of 1 orange
-In a large pot, bring the water and spices to a slow boil for five
-Remove from heat, add wine, and then warm on low heat for 30 minutes.
-Make sure not to let the wine boil, as this will burn off the alcohol
and destroy the flavours.
-After the wine is done heating, strain through fine cheesecloth and
serve. Makes 4 servings.
Even though they say they just buy the packets at Trader Joes...Lazy bastards...
