Probably wrote most of this already but Dark Dark Dark have a new record coming. Who Needs Who hits the streets October 2, 2012. But this band is worth a few mentions. You can hear a new track, How It Went Down, below. Below THAT are upcoming tour dates and below THAT is another song ,Tell Me, that was released earlier. The first song premiered at Pitchfork so it must totally have indie cred all OVER it. The song must be WEARING a pork pie hat. The band are based in Minneapolis and New Orleans, which must be fairly ulcer inducing when it comes to touring, recording and all that. But they seem to manage and be relatively prolific—and always worth a listen. Tour Oct. 3 - Minneapolis, MN @ Cedar Cultural Center w/ Emily Wells, Mountain Man Oct. 6 - Chicago, IL @ Schubas w/ Angel Olsen Oct. 8 - Hudson, NY @ Helsinki Hudson w/ Emily Wells Oct. 9 - Allston, MA @ Great Scott w/ Emily Wells Oct. 10 - Pawtucket, RI @ The Met w/ Emily Wells Oct. 11 - Northampton, MA @ Iron Horse Music Hall w/ Emily Wells Oct. 12 - Brooklyn, NY @ The Knitting Factory w/ Emily Wells Oct. 13 - New York, NY @ Le Poisson Rouge w/ Emily Wells Oct. 14 - Baltimore, MD @ Metro Gallery w/ Emily Wells Oct. 15 - Washington, DC @ DC9 w/ Emily Wells Oct. 16 - Durham, NC @ The Pinhook w/ Emily Wells Oct. 17 - Atlanta, GA @ 529 w/ Emily Wells Oct. 18 - New Orleans, LA @ Cafe Istanbul w/ Emily Wells Oct. 19 - Houston, TX @ Fitzgerald's w/ Emily Wells Oct. 20 - Austin, TX @ Holy Mountain w/ Emily Wells Oct. 21 - Denton, TX @ Dan's Silverleaf w/ Emily Wells Oct. 24 - Santa Fe, NM @ Santa Fe Sol Oct. 26 - Denver, CO @ Hi-Dive w/ Emily Wells Oct. 27 - Salt Lake City, UT @ Kilby Court w/ Emily Wells Oct. 28 - Garden City, ID @ Visual Arts Collective w/ Emily Wells Oct. 29 - Seattle, WA @ The Crocodile w/ Emily Wells Oct. 30 - Portland, OR @ Wonder Ballroom w/ Emily Wells Nov. 1 - Santa Rosa, CA @ Arlene Francis Theatre w/ Emily Wells Nov. 2 - Oakland, CA @ The New Parish w/ Emily Wells Nov. 3 - San Francisco, CA @ Bottom of the Hill w/ Emily Wells Nov. 5 - Los Angeles, CA @ The Echoplex w/ Emily Wells Nov. 6 - San Diego, CA @ Luce Loft w/ Emily Wells Amy Gore and her Valentines first single came out this year and was praised far and wide, especially in their home base of Detroit. The band recorded their first album over the summer. Entitled, In Love, the debut comes out October 13, 2012. That same night will see a record release party at the Lager House in Detroit. Check out the video for the band’s first single from the record, Driving Around, below. You may remember Amy Gore from Gore Gore Girls and Gorevette. This is the first release from her new incarnation—not her first ride at the musical rodeo. Dying for more information? Head HERE. Oak Street Blues, a trio out of Southern California, are set to release their first record, Waiting For Something. Aren’t we all really? The record comes out digitally September 25 on the band’s own imprint, Slo Mo Records. Although, in this case there technically isn’t an actual RECORD. I am nitpicking now, I know it. It has been one of those days. Oak Street Blues have been around since 2009 and are a mix of country, alternative, electronic and pop. Many of the songs are about love. But at least one of them is about robots. Live shows are imminent in Los Angeles and they will tour more extensively in the Fall. For more info www.oakstreetblues.com. The Faint are reissuing their third record, 2001’s Danse Macabre on October 30, 2012. The release is remastered with six bonus tracks from the time. The release also includes an large booklet and is available on a triple disc set with a DVD and on double vinyl (which also includes the CDs and DVD). The DVD includes archival footage from the band, music videos and projections videos they used on tour. The album will be limited edition—5,000 for the CD/DVD release and 3,000 for the LP/CD DVD package. It sounds like a LOT these days for something you refer as a “limited edition” but that is neither here nor there. The band is also touring and the dates are below. Pre-order the record HERE FROM SADDLE CREEK. Get the track, Take Me To The Hospital, for the price of your email too. Tour
