Frusciante is a guitarist, musician and producer extraordinaire. Almost every time I've put on a Frusciante record I have started off with a sort of bafflement. Then, later, I come back to it and go "ahh, now I get it." He mixes genres like a painter mixes colors. His work is always interesting.
John Frusciante's latest release, Enclosure, comes out April 8, 2014. You can download the track, Scratch, free at johnfrusciante.com. You can pre-order the record at the same place beginning March 11.

Lissie has a new EP of covers, Cryin To You, out now. You can check out the video for her version of Danzig's Mother. There are also covers by Drake, One Direction, Judas Priest and Bob Dylan (pretty eclectic cover EP!). Lissie is also touring Europe. You can check out dates HERE. Steve Roach's "Structures from Silence" 30th Anniversary 3-CD Remastered Edition Out April 15, 20143/11/2014 Ambient pioneer, Steve Roach, is set to release the 30th anniversary edition of his seminal work, Structures from Silence. The release comes out April 15, 2014 on Projekt Records. This is a record before its time. It is Roach's third record and found him striking out into new territory. Previously his work had been similar (although certainly not identical) to "space music." This is another area entirely and is the recording where Roach came of age as a composer. And that is what the best of ambient musicians are--modern composers. Sure some just make random noises and are terrible. There were bad classical composers too. Hell there are bad rock bands (Nickelback). Roach is a creative force to be reckoned with and this is a worthy subject for a three CD set reissue. There will also be a reissue of the single disc version. You can preview it HERE. Now,Now are set to release their Threads Remixed EP on March 25, 2014. The EP features remixes by Savoir Adore, Sombear, Field Mouse and others. You can check out a preview of the music at nownowband.com. The Minneapolis-based band have also been busy recording tracks for a new LP. Supersuckers have a new LP, Get The Hell, coming soon. The band is also heading out on tour with The Toadies. The band has been playing their high energy rock n roll since they first appeared in 1992 via Sub Pop. Twenty-five years as a band is pretty close to unbelievable isn't it? The band has been on tour with a who's who of rock n roll luminaries. You can pre-order the new LP HERE. Tour

You can check out (She's Got) A Heart Of Stone below. The song is off the band's upcoming LP, Look How Fast A Heart Can Break. The band is made up of Vince Frederick and former Gore Gore Girls drummer Nicky Veltman. We've posted on them before and I expect will again at some point. Eilidh McKellar, from Scotland, plays a sort of throwback bluesy rock that will appeal to fans of 60s and 70s classic rock and more recent psyche rock. It has pop elements, blues elements but it mainly just sort of rocks. I fear trying to pronounce her first name however. Check out the video for Hold Steady below. Check out U.K. tour dates too. Tour
Morebarn is the creation of songwriter Gary Waldman. The band/collective is a vehicle to give form to a slew of songs he wrote over the past few years. The video, Silver Screen, is below. The debut LP, Made by Hand, was produced by Jeff Hill and Jim Scott. For more go HERE. Olga Bell's new LP, Krai, comesout April 29, 2014. You can check out he track, Perm Krai, below. This is the Russian-born Bell's second LP and it is entirely in Russian. You can pre-order the record (vinyl too) HERE. Krai is the Russian word for edge, frontier or hinterland (the Ukraine takes its name from the word I believe but ask a Ukranian to be sure). This release is about those hinterlands of Russia rather than tbe big cities. Bell is now based in New York. Wolf Gang, from the U.K., are releasing an EP, Black River, in April. The three song EP is a taste of what is to come--their second full-length comes out later in the year. The new LP is recorded with storied producer Flood who worked on some super duper music with PJ Harvey (among others). Their first LP, Suego Faults, came out two years ago. You will also note that they are touring the USA, supporting Bastille at some shows. Tour
