Maggie McClure's new LP, Time Moves On, comes out February 11, 2014. The singer, originally from Norman, Oklahoma, now lives in Los Angeles and like any god Los Angelino musical type her and her people have worked to get her and her music into other areas of the business. McClure unlike MOST has been fairly successful at this. Her music has appeared on The Young and the Restless, The Hills, Dr. Phil, The Real World and many others. She has also played over 750 shows in her career and opened for such notables as Sara Bareilles and Tony Lucca (the same Lucca who made ME reassess my dislike for Billy Joel with a great live version of Vienna). And another thiing to keep in mind about McClure. She is her own label, her own manager and her own booking agent so she is a true independent artist. Find out more at www.maggiemcclure.com. Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas are set to release their EP, Demons, November 12, 2013 on Instant Records. The band, out of Detroit, are out on tour right now (check out remaining dates below. The five track EP claims influences such as Tom Waits and Gogol Bordello. So we have a little bit of a Detroit-style cabaret thing going on he Tour

He is also an artist I keep meaning to write about but haven't gotten around to yet. Unfortunately he also has been diagnosed with cancer. To help with the inevitable costs he will face friends have organized a benefit show Saturday, November 16 at Churchills (5501 NE 2nd Ave, Miami). There will be bands a plenty and also stuff for you to bid on--art, memorabilia, midget hookers, rocket launchers etc (some of this stuff I just made up). What I am not making up is that more information (including businesses in South Florida who are helping out when you patronize them) is available on the Facebook page for this event. All the best to Scott and help if you can. Kings Of Leon have just announced the first part of their North American tour to support the latest LP, Mechanical Bull. Not all of the dates have been announced so check at wwwkingsofleon.com for updates. Mechanical Bull is Kings of Leon's sixth LP and has received great reviews and debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 (not sure what that really means anymore but better than #201!) The tour is presented by Klipsch Audio, maker of top notch speakers and headphones. Tour (more dates to be announced)

The three song EP is the first new music from Dengue Fever in two years. Dengue Fever mix Cambodian Pop and indie rock. Their early work often were covers of Cambodian songs. But as they progressed they wrote more original material (in my humble opinion this is where they really shine). In addition to the EP they will digitally reissue their 2008 release, Venus On Earth, with bonus tracks. The digital reissue comes out November 12, 2013. The band is Cambodian songstress Chhom Nimol, Zac Holtzman, Ethan Holtzman, Senon Williams, Paul Smith and David Ralicke (horns). Shows
