Attrition, the seminal electronic/industrial band played their first show at the Belgrade Venue, Coventry, England on December, 8, 1980. This was a month before Ronald Reagan assumed the office of President  on this side of the Atlantic.

This was originally recorded on a cassette but has been mastered--only one song didn't make it onto the record.

One thing you Attrition fans will note; this recording has NO synths (what Attrition later would use aplenty).

The band was then comprised of Martin Bowes(vocals), Julia Waller(bass/vocals), Chris Bowes (Guitar) and Robbo (Drums).

The Joy Formidable have a new Passion Pit remix of their song, Silent Treatment. The song is off the recently released EP of the same name. The track originally appeared on the band's latest LP, Wolf's Law.

The band is also touring--some dates are with Passion Pit and one with The Black Angels at Emo's in Austin, Texas.

The band is from Australia and consists of singer-songwriter Jess Chalker and hip-hop producer, Ox Why, got together, bonding in their love of science fiction, 80s pop music, vintage synths an more.

Cass McCombs' Big Wheel and Others comes out October 15, 2013. The record has 22 songs and runs the gamet of all the genres that get tossed together under that meaningless moniker "Americana." It is blues, country, folk, rock, R&B and more. Curious to see how it all fits together.

Despite the band's name they currenty reside in New York. They have an EP, Storm So Long, which came out last year. The three members of the band originally met in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where they played in a variety of bands.

Saâda Bonaire was an innovative electronic dance act that appeared in the early 1980s. The group featured Stefanie Lange and Claudia Hossfeld. It all wound up working out a little less that with wild success--in a commercial sense anyway. Apparently it all involves a slippery A&R man at EMI who blew his budgets like the Hindenberg.

Saâda Bonaire and Tina Turner were his responsibility. Guess which act was dumped on?

The music was produced y Dennis Bovel who also worked with Slits. The only released single, You Could Be More Than You Are, was produced in Kraftwerk's studio by Matumbi. Is there a higher electronic pedigree than THAT? Maybe if Brian Eno had hovered over the studio with Gary Numan and Klaus Nomi.

After the single it all vanished into the mist.

But on November 12, 2013 the full record (single plus 11 more songs) comes out remastered on CD and vinyl. Check out the track, You Could Be More Than You Are, below. It reminds me a little of The Flying Lizards.

The third single off OMD's English Electric LP, Night Café, is now part of a digital EP out on BMG. Along with the single are four remixes and the LP's b-sides. This is a total of TEN tracks (which is longer than the average EP!).

One of the remixes is by notable synth poppers, Vile Electrodes. Night Cafe itself is inspired by the art of Edward Hopper. Check out the video below.

Big year for OMD. The new LP has received solid reviews. AND it is actually good (good notices don't always mean that).

The Sounds, out of Sweden, are releasing their latest LP, Weekend, October 29, 2013. They are also touring the world in support. Check out current dates below. Only a small fraction of these are in the USA but you Europeans are in luck.

The band has been around since 1998 but first came to acclaim after the release of their debut LP, Living in America.

Despite being around for fifteen years the band has managed something few acts seem to be able to do--keep all their original members.
