The release comes on Moshi Moshi Records, who also released the band’s 7 “ record, See Spaces, last year. They also managed to hack Lady Gaga’s Twitter account and impersonate writer, Will Self (posting faux BBC articles). Man, they sound like Chumbawumba (the antics, not the music).
Teeth, out of London, have a debut full-length, Whatever, coming on September 20th. The trio are a sort of punk, electronic mix (after listening a bit I eschew the term “noise band” as that usually means I hate it and I did not hate this at all). You can decide love or hate for yourself because that VERY piece, is posted below…the 3010 Mixtape. This features Napalm Death, Gross Magic, James Pants and more.

There hasn’t been a new Misfits record in over a decade. This ten years of missing Misfits will come to an end October 4 when the band releases Devil’s Rain (produced by Ed Stasium who produced earlier Misfits efforts and two Ramones releases). The band started out in the late 70s and currently contain one original member, Jerry Only. But so what if the music is still good? And even way back when this was a band with lots of personnel changes! But I digress. Young folks will not know this but the Misfits album, Walk Among Us, was a soundtrack to a certain creepy segment of a certain generation (“Man, I wore the vinyl on that OUT). The band had something in common with the Ramones; they wrote catchy, short rocking songs that, if you didn’t like one it didn’t matter. It would be over in about a minute and a half. Sure, they were never the Ramones, they were darker, they were less catchy, they had less of a sense of humor. Again, so what. It sucks when bands tour around playing nothing but back catalog like they are Lynnrd Skynnrd. I am glad to see they are making new music. They are also heading out, in support of JuiceheaD (with some headling gigs thrown in). Tour

Find out more HERE. Check out the record at AOL Spinner HERE. This first pressing apparently includes five covers limited to a hundred each. I wonder if this band got their name after an uncomfortable night spent in the woods or maybe just an infested sleeping bag. That is neither here nor there. Deer Tick are one of those eclectic bands. They rock, they are mellow, they seem to play whatever sort of music hits them. They sort of remind me of Ween in that one regard. They are a prolific band having finished four records in five years. Another neat thing is that you can download the song, Miss K, from the record FREE, right HERE. They ask for, but do not require, you to give your email. I have no problem doing so. I mean I get mostly porn spam anyway. The Creole Choir of Cuba are heading out on tour. In Cuba the band is called Desandann, (Descendents). Haitians, for many years, found refuge from the political storms of their home country in Haiti (there are some twists were after the Haitian revolution Haitains wound up enslaved in Cuba but you can read the history on that yourself). The songs they choir sing are re-imagined versions of the songs of their ancestors who were slaves in Haiti. Many of the songs date back to the 1800s but they have a modern twist. This is the first time they have toured extensively in the USA. No Miami date. I wonder why? Hmmm. The band sing in English, French and Creole. They have played all over the world but especially in Cuba and in Haiti as part of Cuba’s relief effort after last year’s devastating earthquake. The group held workshops with children in camps and performed. Their record, Tande-La, is out now digitally. It comes out in physical form September 13. Tour

They also have a video for the track, Rainbounce, out now. Check it out below. IN addition you can download the track, Stuck In My Id, HERE. We are just about to get to know him as a musician. His debut, Crazy Clown Time, comes out November 8 on Sunday Best Recordings (in the UK) and PIAS in the USA.
The record was written, performed and produced by Lynch and is all original music. If this doesn’t make you at least curious you are as nuts as Dennis Hopper in Blue Velvet. Two tracks have already been released, Good Day Today and I Know. This is also not Lynch’s first musical endeavor. He has worked with others on various projects (Angelo Badalamenti, Marek Zebrowski, Sparklehorse, Danger Mouse—a pretty eclectic group). It is to be imagined you can find more information at www.davidlynch.com. I truly regret the lack of samples! Sidi Touré is coming to the United States. To say most people here don’t know Touré here is an understatement. He is a Malian musician whose fantastic record, Sahel Folk, came out earlier this year on Thrill Jockey. Two of his collaborators on the album, Jambala Maïga and Douma Maïga, are making the trek with him. We wrote about Touré when the record came out, posting a track, you can read that little piece (with video) HERE. Touré has played in his homeland an Niger extensively. But this is his first trip to the USA. Check out the videos. You can see more HERE and HERE. As I wrote this, thinking about a Malian musician coming here for the first time, I couldn't help but thinking about a bluegrass band playing in Mali or Niger. Wouldn't that be great? Because I would compare his music as much to bluegrass as simply calling it fo Tour

I am not sure what the original release date WAS but it is now October 25. They call it “melodic rock.” It is good to have a melody. You can listen and determine a genre below. The track, Ego Fader, has been provided for your perusal below. Mike Edwards is the man behind Zenith Myth. Apparently he left his “perfect life” in California to go make music in Upstate NY. Good for him. He later moved back to California. Guests on the record include members of Tool, Hole, Broken Social Scene and many others. I won’t spoil the surprise. |
