Born in Missouri and now living in L.A. plays a sort of Americana/folk. The record is produced be Sean Hoffman who ash previously worked with American Music Club (and others). Her previous musical incarnations have seen her playing organ at a funeral home and playing country music under the name "Bitsy Lee" (good move changing that name). The studio musicians on the record are a who's who of Indie/American and Folk. For more information head to www.littlelonely.com. Big Star's Third, released in 1978 is, however, one of the iconic records in rock history. Alex Chilton and Jody Stephens ‘studio project was also one of those records that was bought by everyone who started a band for the better part of a decade. Now an all star crew--including Stephens--will play the record on June 28, 2013 at the Vic Theater (3145 N. Sheffield Ave.) in Chicago. You can get tickets this Saturday May 18 at www.etix.com. Featured at this show will be: Jody Stephens (Big Star), Mike Mills (R.E.M.), Chris Stamey (the dBs), Mitch Easter (Let's Active), Ken Stringfellow (The Posies, Big Star) Ken Vandermark, Josh Caterer (Smoking Popes), Gary Louris (Jayhawks), Ed Roeser (Urge Overkill), Tim Rutili (Califone), Sally Timms (Mekons) The band will also include: Charles Cleaver, Django Haskins, Brett Harris, Skylar Gudasz and a chamber orchestra. Sun Records (Memphis legend, music legend) has joined forces with a new legend, Third Man Records. The first three releases from this truly amazing collaboration are Bear Cat by Rufus Thomas, Just Walking in the Rain by The Prisonaires and Get Rhythm by Johnny Cash. This disparate selection of songs ranges from old-school R&B, Sun's first big hit from The Prisonaires and the original A-side for Cash's hit, I Walk The Line. The releases have the sun logo and label design and remain faithful to the original 45s. These singles are just the beginning of the partnership and are available individually or as a bundle. There will be limited edition versions with yellow and black splatter vinyl (sun-ray vinyl!). There will be 150 of each limited edition and 100 of these will be sold via the Rolling Stone Record Store May 28, 29 and 30th. This will be an ongoing partnership between Sun and Third Man and future releases are already in the works. Pre-orders for all three initial release (available for purchase individually or as part of a bundle) begin today, with an official release date of May 21st. The 28th sees the sale of the limited Cash single at Sun Records in Memphis. On the 29th Rufus Thomas single will be on sale in Louisville at Please & Thank You. On the 30th The Prisonaires limited will be sold at Luna Records in Indianapolis. Fifty copies of the limited editions will go randomly in orders of the standard edition vinyl from the Third Man website. CSS, out of Brazil, are heading out on tour this summer. Dates are below. The band have a new video for their track, Hangover, which is also below (I am afraid the dates and video are all that is below...no other prizes). Their new album is Planta and I am not entirely sure when it is out. Remember Toni Basel? Of "Oh Mickey" fame from back in the ancient 80s? She choreographed the new video. Tour
