The band often bring up the Beach Boys—mostly in the context of harmonies and surf samples. Fair enough but don’t think Kokomo. The remix throws a sort of funky curveball into the whole thing. Check it out.
Fixers recently released Pop Meat/Your Corrupter, the group’s first US release. You can now hear/download the Memory Tapes remix of the lead single from that EP, Crystals. Check it out below or at Soundcloud. The band often bring up the Beach Boys—mostly in the context of harmonies and surf samples. Fair enough but don’t think Kokomo. Baby Dee’s latest, Regifted Light, came out last year on Drag City. A tour to support the record in the Midwest and Pacific Northwest is imminent. The new record is all about the piano but, rest assured, the tour will feature Dee’s harp. In addition to the latest studio record Dee also has a live record out on Tin Angel Records--Baby Dee Goes Down to Amsterdam. I always try to get my friends to bring me hookers and hash from Amsterdam—even though I do not smoke hash. I just feel you have to ask. But that is an entirely different matter. Be sure to check out Dee’s classical tinged stylings in your town. YapapipJune 15 - Detroit, MI @ MOCA Detroit
