Below you can find the marvelous new video for the track, I Am Gold. Mirada Fuerte is the second Clytem Scanning recording and it appears to be out already. My French is fairly dismal (and the website is in French). It is apparently a recording suffused with darkness, eroticism, blood and violence. So it is like a UFC fight you can dance to. Clever music, clever, low-tech video to match it. For more information head to clytemscanning.com. Rice Cultivation Society’s latest, Sky Burial (out January 15, 2013), deals with the mystery of death and, indeed, takes its name from a Tibetan tradition of letting predatory birds devour a corpse rather than burning or burial (and here I thought it was Jains to who used this funerary practice; you learn something new every day!) Inspiration also comes from the myth of Icarus and hence there is a lot about the sky in this record. Rice Cultivation Society is the brainchild of Derek Smith. The project began in 2005 and is an unusual sort of “do it yourself project.” This isn’t lo-fi of the normal variety. Check out, or download, the track, Honey Hide, below below. One show has been announced too--January 19 at Mr Beery's in Long Island. Other bands on the bill include; Howth, Incorporated Village of Ghost and My Summer. Ellen Allien originally wrote the music for what would become her upcoming recording as a soundtrack for a performance piece, Drama per Musica, which took place during the Spectacles Vivants Festival at the Pompidou Centre in Paris. Allien reworked the piece a bit and it became LISm, which comes out March 12, 2013 on BPitch Control Records. Allien is from Berlin and is a DJ, musician, fashion designer and label manager. For more information head to www.ellenallien.de. There will be a limited number of shows in North America (not sure if they are DJ sets). These are listed below.
