Originally a one man, off Broadway show, the film was supposed to star Harvey Keitel but he was unable, ultimately, to do the movie. He recommended Argo for the role. Argo, a character actor seen if films such as Taxi Driver, True Romance, Bad Lieutenant, The Last Temptation of Christ and Ghost Dog, plays a show store manager who attempts to revive his career as a stang up comic. He finds himself in a club performing on a stage complete with a functioning electric chair.
The film, directed by Mark Eisenstein, a film professor who pulled a Werner Herzog and "borrowed" the gear to make the film from his college.
There will also be a screening of the film at 92YTribeca at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct 15, 2010 in the Screening Room at 200 Hudson Street. The cost is $12.00. Eisenstein will be there. For tickets click HERE.
