The Midwest Independent Film Fest also wants to encourage you to BUY indie films. It is important to get out to theaters too, of course, but buying films also helps indie moviemakers. More HERE.
Tony Shalhoub stars in Feed the Fish, which premieres 11/2/2010 in Chicago via the folks at the Midwest Independent Film Festival. They have a new premium seating thing you can get roped off seats and feel important. You also get “express admission” to the after party. You know, like how for ten bucks you can cut the line and get on Southwest planes first? Same deal but this only costs $5 ($15 for premium tix and $10 for regular).

Bridget Palardy has some some super music videos and more. Her latest short film (six minutes), Take Out, is below for your perusal. The video features actors from the New York City improvisational group, Chet Watkins and an appearance by Karen Ziemba (aTony winner). The director’s sister, Kat Palardy, is in the lead role. Bridget Palardy produced videos for Nylon TV, shooting the likes of Kim Gordon, Betsey Johnson and more. She has directed numerous musiv videos which have appeared on MTV, UK MTB, at Pitchfork.com and at the Los Angeles Film Festival. She has also won numerous awards. If you want to see more of her stuff go to Sharkaa.com. FilmFather, is another of our favorite film websites. It has been around since July, 2008.
“FilmFather features reviews of movies – new and old, mainstream and obscure – that dads and their kids can enjoy together, as well as ‘guy’ movies dads can enjoy when they have time to themselves.” Says Eric Zerbe , who created the blog. Reviews cover and answer questions dads might have when considering a movie. Some of these are the same as anyone would ask—and any review would include but it adds these to the mix as well. • Can I watch it with my kids? (you really do not want to be sitting there with Jr. watching Caligula) • Will my kids even want to watch it? (“Dad, can we go? Dad, can we GO?”) • Will my “FilmMother” like it? (Does the name “John Bobbitt” mean anything to you?”) Check out FilmFather HERE. For details visit www.AWFJ.org The Electric Chair, starring Victor Argo, is due for release on DVD. We all have Wild Eye Releasing and MVD Entertainment Group to thank for this: the former unearthed the film and the latter are distributing it. Originally a one man, off Broadway show, the film was supposed to star Harvey Keitel but he was unable, ultimately, to do the movie. He recommended Argo for the role. Argo, a character actor seen if films such as Taxi Driver, True Romance, Bad Lieutenant, The Last Temptation of Christ and Ghost Dog, plays a show store manager who attempts to revive his career as a stang up comic. He finds himself in a club performing on a stage complete with a functioning electric chair. The film, directed by Mark Eisenstein, a film professor who pulled a Werner Herzog and "borrowed" the gear to make the film from his college. There will also be a screening of the film at 92YTribeca at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct 15, 2010 in the Screening Room at 200 Hudson Street. The cost is $12.00. Eisenstein will be there. Oxford Film Freak, Brainchild of Melanie Addington, For Film Nuts In Mississippi And Beyond10/8/2010 The website below has no logo so we used a related one.Oxford Film Freak began in 2008. And the chief freak is Melanie Addington.
“It started just as a fun way for me to keep up with movies I had seen but continues to grow as a Mississippi film resource.” says Addington. Readers of the site come from all over but the focus is movies and films from Mississippi. Addington also has a dream for the site. She wants to cover every film ever shot in the great state of Mississippi. “I have a long standing concept of writing about every movie ever filmed in Mississippi and have them all listed - now just to get to random trivia about each film!” she says. Oxfordfilmfreak.com has writing for Addington, guest bloggers, news, film festival information and more. Addington is also a co-director at the well-regarded Oxford Film Festival. “ It really is just a hodge podge of ideas thrown into one blog. “ she says. Hmm, that sounds kind of familiar. The blog ties to Addington’s weekly print column that runs in the arts and entertainment magazine, Oxford Town. In an ongoing attempt to let folks know about interesting sites that deal with movies I give you--www.needcoffee.com. They run reviews, articles, interviews and “random chaos.” The site appeared in 1998 and they are located in Atlanta.
The aim of the site (unlike this one) is to KEEP YOU AWAKE. The only thing I would say about Need Coffee is we want to be the One Stop Shop for people who have already consumed enough caffeine to kill a small camel but still can't stay awake.” says John “Widgett” Robinson, proprietor of the site.
