Saidah Baba Talibah announced the USA release of her video for her song, Place Called Grace, last week. Yes. I am slow and lazy and should have had this posted last week. The video is set in a speakeasy and..blah..blah blah. It is linked below. Watch it.
The song, I THINK, comes off an ep called The Phone Demos. Basically they didn’t have a tape recorder to get any scratch tracks down so they recorded them to a cell phone. The result shocked both Talibah and her guitarist Donna Grantis because they sounded “good.” Not necessarily technically-our-engineer-thought-it-was-good good but it had an undefinable quality to it that they liked.
Which is what music really should be, or at least some portion of music should be.
