McKenna Frazer is 18 years old and out of San Francisco. She has some interesting musical backers. One is David J of Bauhaus/Love and Rockets fame. You can hear her version of his track, I’ll Be Your Chauffer, below. The press release says she “grew up” listening to him…she is 18. She isn’t a grown up yet! She can’t order a beer!
Nonetheless it is a super reimagining of that great David J solo song.
The demo version was sent to J be her father and the musician then invited her to the studio to record it. He produced it with Thievery Corporation’s Rob Garza. I feel like there is something missing from the narrative. Was this an “out of the blue” email to David J or did her dad KNOW him.
Frazer is writing her own songs. I wonder if she will have a major release....hmm… I am betting yes and if this track is any indication it will be worth a listen or two.
