Keith is a native of Tennessee and he, unsurprisingly, learned to sing in church. Church is a good place to learn. Lots of other folks singing to cover up when you miss a note. No one really cares if you sing badly either. Gives you a chance to hone your singing skills. At 21 he, again, unsurprisingly, moved to Nashville and was signed to a major label.
Guess what? That didn’t sort out right. It happens a lot because most record companies are evil and run by Satan and usually treat guys who learned to sing in church poorly. But fuck em…Keith soldiered on. Eventually landing in Memphis, hanging a “washed up” banner around his neck. But he apparently couldn’t quit (if you ever do music people willllll try to drag you back into it. Like the mafia).
