George Benson Returns With 12 New Recordings, Tour; Hear A Track

George Benson is back with  a 12 song collection, Guitar Man, a mix of jazz and pop standards. The focus is on the guitar, however. Some of the tracks are solo and others are with a band. Musicians include the likes of Joe Sample, David Garfield, Ben Williams and Harvey Mason. Some of the musicians are new to Benson and others he has been working with for decades.

Yes, this isn’t the sort of stuff we normally write about but if I can post about hippie rock n roll bands I can post about jazz of the smooth variety. We are not prejudiced against jazz! And make no mistake, Benson can PLAY the guitar. When he turns it on on R&B mode? Whew. There is a cover of  I Want To Hold Your Hand and Tequila on this record. Personally I need to hear the latter at the very leas.

Benson is also heading out on tour. The current dates are below but expect more to be added.
