Bad Books sort of appeared out of the aether (if you believe press releases and whether to believe or not believe such things is today’s theme apparently). Kevin Devine and Manchester Orchestra’s Andy Hull had just played together as part of the Favorite Gentleman label. Bad Books was just a musical time-killer in between tours.
But something funny happened during the few days the two collaborated on some songs, each came up with five compositions that called for a release—which is eponymous and comes out October 19 on, unsurprisingly, Favorite Gentleman Recordings.
