Exlovers Releasing 1st Full Length "Moth" Spring 2012, Headlinging XOYO In London

_ Exlovers have released singles but their first full length album, Moth, comes out in the Spring of 2012 via Young and Lost Club. The band of indie poppers is, in the meantime, offering a free track, Starlight, Starlight, for your perusal (and free download).

The band has been around since 2008. Check them out if you are into that classic indie-lo-fi sound. This one was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales with Demian Castellanos and Jimmy Robertson who have also worked with Florence and the Machine and Big Pink.

They are also playing a show at London’s XOYO December 16, 2011

Now Now "Dead Oaks" Sample Track Off New Record, "Threads"

_ Now, Now’s new record Threads is coming out on Trans Records on March 6. 2012.  Trans Records is the label run by Death Cab For Cutie’s Chris Walla. The band isn’t going to make you wait to hear a sample. You can hear the track Dead Oaks below or at the band Soundcloud page.

The met Walla at last year’s SXSW where Walla apparently helped the band unload gear and talked a cop out of giving them a ticket.  Now that is my kind of label owner.

Pterodactyl Release New Video For "The Break" Out On Tour Now

_ Pterodactyl’s latest video, The Break,was made out of over 1500 photos from all over. There are shots of the band on tour, at home, in Bali, album covers, etcetera. The song is apparently about quitting your job (which would certainly give you time for collecting photos).

Their new record, Spills Out, is now out on Brah Records. The band is currently on tour. Check out dates below.

Ben Kweller Releasing Fifth Record, Starting New Record Company

_ Ben Kweller has a new record coming out—on his own, brand spanking new label, The Noise Company. His new record, to be titled, Go Fly A Kite, comes out February 7, 2012. Kweller was signed to Mercury records when he was 15 and has worked with a variety of other companies, both major and indie. Now that he has hit the ripe old age of 30 he wants to be the man in charge.

And really shouldn’t that be the case with all artists?

And the big bugaboo for small labels? The evil monster that is distribution? They have a large USA distributor and others in Japan and Australia.

Go Fly A Kite is Kweller’s fifth studio record.
