_ The Seedy Seeds new video has a sort of angry prison motif going on. It is kind of a happy song too. I Am The Conductor is off the band’s latest effort, Verb Noun. The video was shot in Cincinnati from whence the band hail. To celebrate the release they are having a free show Wednesday November 23 in, you guessed it, Cincinnati, at MOTR Pub. The show also marks the introduction of a new member, Joe Frankl. The band has been out on tour supporting the new record since the spring. _ Family of the Year, an L.A. pop folk outfit have a new video for their track, St. Croix. The video was directed by Jessica Sanders—Oscar-nominated and Sundance-winning director. The video premiered at IFC.com. The theme is very Beach Boys as the press release says. You can buy music from the band via their own webstore HERE. You can also get it from other online retailers but why not get the music from the “horses’ mouth” so to speak? This is your new blog post. Click here and start typing, or drag in elements from the top bar.
_ Neal Morgan is a pro drummer. People call him up and pay him to play wit them. Now Morgan, who has worked with Joanna Newsom and Bill Callahan, has a solo record coming. In The Yard is Morgan’s second solo effort and it is out January 24, 2012. You can hear a track, Fathers Day, below. Morgan is a native of Nevada City, California and currently resides in Portland, Oregon. I also noticed there is a karaoke version of the record and a “drum-only” version of , Fathers Day, available as downloads with LP, cassette purches (or digital purchase online). I am not sure how this came to be but I support karaoke versions of all music as a matter of principle. Father's Day
_ Young Empires, from Toronto, have a new EP, Wake All My Youth, coming out February 21, 2012. The single, Enter Through The Sun, is out now and you can stream it below. The band has performed at SXSW, CMW and the Juno Awards and will be performing at M for Montreal on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 11 p.m. The band has only been around for a couple of years but have made a name based largely on their live sets. Check them out. _ Fat Albert Einstein lives in L.A. but is originally from Philadelphia (but we will not hold either against him). He is also a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer who makes music that sounds like old soundtrack tunes. His music is on Switchstance Recordings and his latest, After the Beep, is out now. _ Initially “Fat Albert” was a visual artist. He got into music later but like any sensible person he knows art is art. Music is art…and it can all weave together. He is also the resident DJ at Largo in Los Angeles. You can download the track above via Soundcloud.

_ Mouse On Mars haven’t had a new record for some time (Varcharz came out in 2006). The band appeared in the 1990s, which doesn’t SEEM all that long ago but …err…it was. They have nin studio records on a variet of labels and their latest, Parastrophics, comes out on Monkeytown February 28, 2012. The new record was created in Berlin, home to Monkeytown and, now, Mouse On Mars. The group have also created their own music software which they used producing the new record (and their live performances). Here is hoping they make a crapload of money on that. Don’t license it to anyone without a giant ass advance guys… _ Gary Clark Jr. will be playing dates in December to support his debut EP, The Bright Lights. Clark is an apparently eclectic performer—ranging from rock to psychedelia to classic soul. It is the sign of a restless rock n roll spirit (or multiple personality disorder). It definitely means you need to see him more than once. He is a native of Austin, Texas which almost by definition means you have to be musical right? A full length is in the offing now. Check him out at the relatively small venues below. _ Tour
