DJ Puzzle (aka Jason Donnelly) is a producer, musician, DJ song writer and more. The "more" part includes being the man behind a ton of loop libraries. His loops have been used by so many artists it would make your head spin. You may not have seen his name cause, well, you can buy loop libraries and use them as you please. Puzzle's new record, Look Ahead , is available for download now for $6.99 HERE. The release includes 14 tracks, some of which have been used on TV shows. They are mostly upbeat, danceable tunes. It is available only via the DJ Puzzle website. Collide are getting ready to release their latest CD, a double remix CD, Bent and Broken. The release consists of 26 tracks. Find out more HERE. with remixers such as CEvin Key, Chris Vrenna and Android Lust. There are also a couple of covers and a new track. The record comes out October 30, 2012. Mixed Blood Majority is a new collaboration between Lazerbeak (Doomtree), Crescent Moon (Kill the Vultures) and Joe Horton (No Bird Sing). Their debut track is, Fine Print, and you can hear it below via the group's Soundcloud page. There will be a full length reecord from the group in the early pat of 2013. There is also a live performance coming November 3 at Icehouse in Minneapolis. The Walkmen are heading out on tour with Father John Misty in early 2012. If you are thinking “Gee, do I want to see The Walkmen?” Check out the just released live videos below. I strongly recommend an answer in the affirmative. They’ve lost nothing over the years if their set at Lollapalooza (in the blazing heat) is anything to judge by. The group is also releasing a limted edition 7 inch with unreleased tracks (Dance With Your Partner and Vermeer ’65) on Tuesday November 6. The release is limited to 1000 copies. You can pre-order via Fat Possum Records HERE. Tour # - w/ Father John Misty 1/11 - Union Transfer - Philadelphia, PA 1/15 - Corona Theater - Montreal, QB # 1/16 - Danforth Theatre - Toronto, ON # 1/17 - Newport Music Hall - Columbus, OH # 1/18 - Vic Theatre - Chicago, IL # 1/19 - Capitol Theatre - Madison, WI # 1/21 - Ogden Theatre - Denver, CO # 1/24 - Fillmore - San Francisco, CA # 1/26 - Roseland Theartre - Portland, OR # 1/27 - Neptune Theater - Seattle, WA # 1/28 - Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver, BC # Sophie Auster, who we mentioned in advance of a debut NYC show in May, has a record coming out in November. Red Weather is a polished chanteuse bit of musical seduction. It sounds sort of vaguely bossanova or jazzy, then throws a curveball in here and there. It is stylish from beginning to end. Auster is the daugher of Paul Auster and was, apparently, inspired to make music by her dad's translation of French poets. More on Auster soon. Graph Rabbit's debut record, Snowblind, is out. The record, released October 9, 2012, is produced by Allen Farmelo who has worked with Talk Normal and Cinematic Orchestra. The video below is from a beginning to end performance of the album at Kennedy Center's Millenium Stage. The track is White Birds. For more info head to www.graphrabbit.com. M83's latest single, Steve McQueen, comes out November 27, 2012. Check out the video for the track below. This is the third single from the album, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. It is the sort of dancey, cosmic pop fans have come to expect from the band. The single will, of course, come with remixes including versions from BeatauCue, Alluxe, MAPS and SALM. On Black Friday Record Store Day the band is also releasing Reunion 12, with remixes by by Sei A, Mylo, Polly Scattergood and Naked and Famous. CSS has a new single coming out on Federal Prism. Check out the video below. CSS is the second release from the new label. We've written about Dave Sitek's Federal Prism label before. The first release on the 12" single only lable was Telepathe's Destroyer. Sitek, producer and member of TV on the Radio, has a concept worth watching here. Limited editions from an eclectic mix of bands with remixes by top notch talent as well. |
