Outburst is a good example of the post-war iconoclast's work. She was educated at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts and later in Italy (during and immediately after World War II). She left Hungary in 1950 for Paris and worked with noted Surrealists. Her first solo exhibition in 1954, was at L’Étoile scellée, the Surrealist studio. None other than Andre Breton had offered her he exhibit. Her technique was notable--she would use metal objects to manipulate paint and also use her body as a "paintbrush."
