Deposition by Jackson Pollock Washburn Gallery (New York) showed these early works by Jackson Pollock at Art Basel Miami Beach. You will notice these are not the "drip" paintings most associated with the artist; they are earlier, more representational (even figurative) works.
In the late 1920s Pollock was enrolled in the Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles--this is the beginning of his formal study of art. These paintings come from a slightly later period when the artist had moved to New York City to study at the Art Students League. Through this time Pollock was heavily influenced by abstract art--particularly Picasso.
These formative pieces are not only beautiful but historic.
