Throwback Jack, a group exhibit in honor of artist John Wesley, runs at Fredericks & Freiser (536 W 24th St., New York) runs June 20 to July 26, 2019.
There will be an exhibit from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday June 20. Five artists will participate: Math Bass, Ivy Haldeman, Becky Kolsrud, Ebecho Muslimova and Emily Mae Smith.
The artists will redeploy Wesley's style, themes and strategy. Wesley's pop art-ish work reflected postwar media culture but with in a more personal way. These current artists bring these notions into a modern context.
