The series began eight years ago and include photos of ruins, landscapes, wildlife, all untouchd by our modern world.
Salgado's work is held in the permanent collections of the Chicago Art Institute, the Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsonian and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He runs a nonprofit (Instituto Terra) with his wife, Lélia Wanick Salgado, dedicated to enviromental education and restoration in Brazil (this is something the entire world can than them for).
