The exhibit will feature painting, drawings, embrodiered tapestries, quiltd, photos and a performanc video (you can figure out which is from each artist when you visit. Both artists, despite their different media, use narrative to look at identity and the self with respect to "the other." They approach this visually via portrayals of the sacred and iconic.
Grogan hails from Australia where he attended the University of Newcaste for art. He has shown widely in his homeland and his work is in numerous private and punlic collections. Mary Marshall lives and works in NYC and received her BFA from Parsons The New School for Design. She has been shown in numerous exhibitions including Gia Condo at Allegra LaViola (which we wrote about earlier). She has participated in numerous other exhibitions in the city and her work is, like Grogan's, held in a number of private collections.
