Roland Flexner's work will be the subject of a solo exhibition at D'Amelio Gallery (525 West 22nd Street
New York) from October 25 to November 24, 2012. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 25.
Flexner is currently based in New York but he is originally fro Nice, France.
This exhibit consists of 100 framed drawings--each an individual piece and a part of a larger whole. Flexner has placed two symetrical groups of 26 liquid graphite paintings across from each other. If you have seen any of his work individual pieces tends to be 9x12. These are larger. The remaining pieces are placed on walls and have an element of color in three aquare grids of smaller drawings of violet calligraphy. the opposing wall is 23 drawings of black and gold calligraphy.
A number of Flexner's liquid graphite works will be part of an exhibit, Graphite, which opens December 7, 2012 at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. And there are more exhibits of his work forthcoming. For information head to www.dameliogallery.com.
