Mazal work has recently examined funerary practices of various cultures. He began in Mexico and wound up at Mount Kailash. This is the final installment in this series and it is about sky burials. He takes a multi-disciplinary approach to painting with photographs being the starting point. Mazal uses photos as a connection between reality and absteaction. He takes photos of his paintings as he paints and creates sketches fusing the photos and paintings in virtual drawings. Then he goes back to painting.
This is Mazal's second solo show in Hong Kong. He lives in New York City and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
