Pieter Hugo's Kin, runs September 6 through October 19, 2013 at Yossi Milo Gallery (245 Tenth Avenue, NYC). There will be an opening reception with the artist from 6 to 8 Friday, September 6. This is the artists fourth exhibit with Yossi Milo.
Kin, work produced in the past eight years, approaches issues such as racial diversity, colonization and economic disparity in Hugo's home, South Africa. These are the sort of subjects his work has often approached. These pieces range from portraits to landscapes and beyond.
There is also a retrospective of Hugo's photographs, This Must Be The Place: Selected Works 2003-2011 on exhibit at the Ludwig Museum in Budapest. The exhibit then movies to Fotografiska, Stockholm (8/30 to 11/23, 2013) and Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon (3/28 to 6/1, 2014).
