Osborne Samuel (London) showed work by Henry Moore, best known as a sculptor, at Art Miami 2016.
These pieces are, obviously, not sculpture. Family Group is pencil, wax crayon, watercolor and pen & ink on paper. Three Female Figures (below) is pencil, crayon, ink and gouache on paper.
Moore wasn't just a sculptor he was one who did a great deal of monumental sculpture. Some of these are close to abstract but most have figures and form.
An enormously famous figure in his day and a socialist his large art was often defaced and attacked (motives varied). Like many successful artists a new generation resented and rebelled against him and his work. This doesn't mean their is a thing wrong with his work; this is as it should be with a new generation of artists regardless.
There is a Henry Moore Foundation. You can find out more at www.henry-moore.org.
